The tower of the Martin Luther church is a remnant of an Evangelical church erected in 1904. The construction of the building was founded by the foundation of Emilia Heyse, the then richest inhabitant of Świnoujście. The designer of the church was Fritz Gottliebe. It was built in the neo-Gothic style with a clock tower with four bells; the tower was 62 metres high. During the Second World War, the church was destroyed. Its demolition started in 1962, but the tower was preserved, because it was marked on navigation maps and changing them was a complicated enterprise, so the tower was left. Not until 2003, a private investor was found; he changed the state of affairs and the tower was refurbished. It was opened in 2005, a café was set up in the building, and at the top of the tower the highest beauty spot in Świnoujście was established – visitors can admire the panorama of city from there. The present tower is 20 metres shorter than the original one – the change was necessary in order to adjust the overlook. The café is situated on two lower storeys and is kept in the atmosphere of the Great War and the interwar period. Winding stairs lead from the café up to the tower; on the way, there are benches giving an opportunity to rest. A flight of 222 steps leads to the summit. At the top of the tower, there are balustrades facing all the directions that allow tourists to admire beautiful sceneries.
